The Club Constitution

The Club was founded in 2000 with the aim of bringing cinema back to North Berwick. The town’s last cinema, the Playhouse, closed in 1984 .

The Club mainly uses the Scottish Seabird Centre’s auditorium which is fully equipped with digital projection equipment.

The club’s first film was American Beauty which sold out very quickly. A public meeting was called and a Committee established. Since its inception, the Club has presented over 100 film shows and has also staged three major outdoor events each of which were attended by over 1000 people.

The Club received financial support from Awards for All which enabled it to purchase it’s own digital projector, a 12ft wide easi- erect screen and a surround sound system with DVD player. This has enabled the Club to stage events at various venues throughout the local community. The Club is totally non-profit making and run entirely by volunteers.

Several local groups have benefited from fund raising events including the RNLI, the Music Therapy Group and the Youth Cafe.

The Club is always looking for new members and especially anyone who who wishes to get involved with running the Club or behind the scenes at the shows. Its great fun and a great way of meeting new people.
